Covenant Church will be gathering for worship at Avery Trace Middle School this Sunday. This change in location is due to the ongoing renovations at the Putnam County Courthouse. Work on the courthouse roof and the air conditioning will continue for a few more weeks. County Executive Randy Porter apologizes for the inconvenience and sincerely appreciates our flexibility. We plan to return to the courthouse soon.
The weather will determine how soon the roof work is finished. It may be necessary for us to extend our stay at Avery Trace. Thankfully, Avery Trace Principal Alma Anderson welcomes us and is glad to host our Sunday gathering. The chorus and band directors have also been kind to make their rooms and equipment available.
Ample parking is available in the two parking lots on either side of the main entrance, but please do not park in the YMCA lot. Refreshments will be served just inside the entrance and worship will take place in the chorus room. Preschoolers will go to the gym for their lesson and a special place for babies will be provided in a nearby room.
Covenant Church adopted Avery Trace Middle School in the fall of 2011. Since that time we have worked with school administration to institute the NOW Mentor Program and the Backpack Food Program. Covenant has also supported the Raider Rumble, Angel Tree Christmas Gifts, faculty meetings, and other special needs at the school. Avery Trace is an important place of ministry for our church and this is a great opportunity for more people to learn about our work there.
If you have questions about the plans for this Sunday, please contact me or Ethan Breeding. Set-up will begin at 9:00 a.m. and a school custodian will be there to greet us.
I am looking forward to seeing you Sunday..
Grace and peace,
